Pizza drop-off boost for company helping tackle COVID-19
Staff at a north east manufacturer of compressed air filtration and breathing air equipment, helping to battle Covid-19 across the country, had a welcome surprise when a large pizza delivery arrived sent by Northern Gas and Power.
Walker Filtration, based in Washington, Tyne and Wear, designs, develops and manufactures high-quality Compressed Air and Gas Filtration, Vacuum Air/Oil Separation, and Drying solutions for a wide range of industrial and medical applications. They also produce vital filtration products for the food industry.
Staff there are working round the clock to produce critical medical air systems and oxygen units for hospitals across the nation, including some of the newly-developed Nightingale hospitals, geared towards tackling Covid-19.
When Northern Gas and Power heard of Walker Filtration’s continued commitment, they quickly arranged a thank-you pizza delivery to staff to acknowledge their amazing work. Northern Gas and Power supports Walker Filtration with its energy procurement strategy, identifying long-term deals which facilitates its continued growth while also introducing new energy management technology.
Walker Filtration’s facilities manager, Stuart Wilson said: “Many of our products are critical to the Covid-19 battle but in order to continue production, safety has to come first. To protect staff and maintain social distancing we have introduced split shifts, compressed hours, and supported non-production staff in working from home on a rota basis. Needless to say, it has not been easy to adapt in this challenging time, but our staff have adjusted well to new shift and working patterns, as well as weekend working, to support increased demands.”
Stuart continued: “We have worked with Northern Gas and Power for a long time. They are always there for us and will always go the extra mile. We rely on their expertise and recently chose their energy monitoring system, ClearVUE, to help us measure and reduce energy usage. They stand out in a saturated market for their exemplary levels of service and helpfulness. Northern Gas and Power’s pizza drop-off sums up their approach; always thinking of the customer, and it was the perfect pick-me-up for our employees during this difficult time.”
Conor Kirkup, Key Account Manager at Northern Gas and Power, said “When I heard about the amazing efforts of staff to tackle the pandemic, I suggested a surprise pizza treat for them all as I thought it would be a nice gesture. I’m glad it went down so well with the team – it’s more than deserved!”
