What is Renewable Energy?


The United Kingdom currently relies heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for its energy. Fossil fuels are non-renewable, that is, they draw on finite resources that will eventually dwindle, becoming too expensive or too environmentally damaging to retrieve. In contrast, the many types of renewable business energy resources such as wind and solar energy are constantly replenished and will never run out.

Most renewable energy comes either directly or indirectly from Sunlight, Wind, Geothermal, Bio-Energy etc. These can be used directly for heating and lighting homes and other buildings, for generating electricity, and for hot water heating, solar cooling, and a variety of commercial and industrial uses.

Why is renewable business energy so important?

There are several important reasons that make renewable energy extremely important for the future of our society and the world.

Renewable energy technologies are clean sources of energy that have a much lower environmental impact than conventional energy technologies.

By using renewable energy instead of fossil fuels we would significantly decrease the current levels of greenhouse gas emissions, and this would have a positive environmental impact for our entire planet.

Increase energy security

Renewable energy can also improve our energy security by reducing the need for foreign oil import, and by switching to renewable energy and using more domestic renewable energy sources instead of importing foreign oil, we would drastically improve our energy security and energy independence.
