North East firm Northern Gas and Power unveils multi-million pound investment plans creating up to 500 jobs for the region

North East-founded energy and procurement specialist Northern Gas and Power has outlined ambitious expansion plans that will see the firm take on up to 500 additional staff in 2017, providing the region with a major jobs boost.

The company has vacancies across 10 different job roles to fill and is in search for talented people from the North East region. The roles include sales executives, administration assistants, human resources professionals, software developers, field electricians, and finance assistants.

The firm, which has experienced its fourth office relocation in as many years to meet the demands of its growing headcount, has recently moved into its new headquarters based at Baltic Place on the Gateshead Quayside.

The move will see NGP increase in size by over 400 per cent from its December 2016 roster of 90 staff, with an additional 36 new staff having already been recruited since the start of January 2017.

NGP is an energy consultancy headquartered in Gateshead, with additional offices in Leeds, Ireland, the United States, France, and India.

Newly-appointed finance director Chris Baty said: “It is a very exciting time for me to be joining NGP. With an exceptional turnover growth rate of 440%, we are clearly one of the fastest growing companies in the North East. In 2016 we enjoyed another record year with £17 million of contracts signed during the period.

“I have been a finance director of high-growth companies for over 16 years and the momentum at NGP is the most impressive I’ve experienced. I look forward to helping NGP to achieve its significant global growth ambitions and to spearhead the company towards a stock market flotation within the next three years.

“There is so much more potential for NGP in the energy sector and we look forward to helping our thousands of new and existing customers across the globe to reduce their energy costs through effective procurement and use of technology.

“NGP also recently added electrical engineering services to its expanding portfolio of services.”
