Let’s Talk: The Power of Conversation

Conversations about mental health can be transformative, especially in a corporate setting. They create an environment of trust and understanding, essential to any business.

One in four people experience mental health issues each year, according to mental health charity Mind. Yet silence often surrounds these issues in the workplace.

At NGP, we’ve always understood the immense value of mental wellbeing, especially in a high-stakes environment.

On this year’s Time to Talk Day, we want to encourage open dialogue. Together, we can change the narrative and remove the stigma surrounding mental health.

Read our blog to discover why mental health is crucial and the steps we take to break down barriers surrounding it.

Leadership

Innovation is key in addressing mental health at work.

At NGP, we integrate modern research and techniques into our mental health initiatives. From mindfulness sessions to mental health first aid training, we provide our employees with the tools and resources to manage their mental health effectively.

We also prioritise our staff’s work-life balance, offering them fully paid December off. In our ongoing efforts to prioritize the well-being of our employees, we have implemented a policy to limit overtime. This decision is aimed at ensuring a healthier work-life balance for everyone within our company.

We believe that this change will contribute to a more positive and sustainable work environment, fostering increased productivity and overall employee satisfaction.

Conversations

The impact of open conversations about mental health cannot be overstated. They demystify mental health issues, fostering a more inclusive and understanding workplace.

According to the World Health Organisation, mental health-friendly workplaces have shown to reduce absenteeism, increase productivity, and enhance employee retention. By normalising these conversations, we not only support individual employees but also strengthen our corporate fabric.

To this end, we have a team of mental health first aiders that are always available for a chat.

Peer Support

Peer support is a cornerstone of our mental health strategy. Encouraging employees to support each other creates a network of care and understanding. According to the American Psychological Association, peer support can significantly alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Marking Time to Talk Day, we at NGP reaffirm our commitment to making mental health a priority. We understand that our employees are our greatest asset, and their mental wellbeing is crucial to our collective success. We will continue to innovate, educate, and encourage, ensuring that every conversation about mental health takes us a step closer to a healthier, more productive workplace.

Let’s Talk

The power of conversation in improving mental health in the workplace is undeniable. At NGP, we are proud to lead the way in creating a work environment where mental health is openly discussed, understood, and supported.

This Time to Talk Day, let’s all commit to keeping the conversation going – for the wellbeing of our employees and the strength of our corporate community.
