IWD: Embracing Equity and Promoting Inclusivity
As a global event celebrated annually on 8 March, International Women’s Day serves as an important reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need to continue working towards a more just and equitable world for all individuals, regardless of gender.
At Northern Gas and Power, we are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all areas of our business, and we are proud to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women both within our company and in the wider world.
The Importance of International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to recognise the progress that has been made towards gender equality, but also to acknowledge the challenges that still exist. It is a time to celebrate the achievements of women, as well as to raise awareness of the ongoing struggle for gender equity and to advocate for change.
At Northern Gas and Power, we believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a more equitable and inclusive world, and we are committed to doing our part. By recognising the importance of International Women’s Day, we hope to inspire our employees, customers, and partners to take action towards creating a more just and equitable society.
Embracing Equity
The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is to “Embrace Equity,” which highlights the importance of promoting gender equity and creating a more inclusive world for all individuals, regardless of gender. At Northern Gas and Power, we believe that creating a more equitable world requires a commitment to addressing systemic barriers and biases that limit opportunities for women and other marginalised groups.
We are proud to be establishing a Women’s Network to support our female employees with issues that matter to them. From career development and mentoring opportunities to support for menopause and fertility issues, we want to ensure that our female employees have the resources and support they need to thrive. We also encourage male allies to join the network and play an active role in promoting gender equity in the workplace.

We recognise that promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion requires ongoing effort, and we are committed to taking concrete steps towards achieving this goal. From our employee resource groups to our diversity and inclusion training programs, we are constantly working to ensure that our workplace is a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

With the continued support from NGP I was promoted to Billing Team Manager in 2022 and now have the opportunity to help others within the team as well as the department with their own career progression.” – Joanna, Team Manager
- “I was given the opportunity to join NGP as an Energy Consultant. I decided to take the leap and it was the best decision by far. My life has changed significantly for the better since joining. You’re always learning here and no two days are the same. I’ve made friends and clients for life and love working with them all. The help and support personally I’ve received from the business over the years is amazing.” – Helen, Energy Consultant
